Tournaments serve an important component for player and team development and are important for club-wide exposure. As such, competitive teams are provided with club resources to facilitate participation in USYS-sanctioned tournaments (U8-U10, $900 per season; U11-U14, $1100 per season; U-15 and above, $1600 per season).
It is LHSA's club policy that all competitive teams participate in a minimum of one area soccer tournament per season. Teams with players 11 years and older are eligible to travel and participate in tournaments out of state, but they must obtain permission if using New Jersey Youth Soccer carding. This can be accomplished using GOTSOCCER.COM in electronic format. Consult a club representative or board member for guidance. This policy does NOT apply to US Club Soccer carded teams - please consult US Club for their travel policies.
Official requests for tournament registration fees must be made in writing to the Treasurer.
LHSA allows each team to recover and use any unused tournament funds towards 'soccer-related' activities in order to maximize player development. Requests to recover unused tournament funds must be made in writing to the Treasurer, indicating how they will be used. We officially define 'soccer-related' as 'any activity that develops a majority of players on a team in a group environment, preferably involving a ball and goals'. Any questions as to what fulfills 'soccer-related' should be directed to the VP of Competitive Soccer. Suitable 'soccer-related' activities could consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Facility rentals (indoor, turf, etc)
- Team training*
- Indoor/winter leagues (e.g. Futsal)
- Team camps (e.g. Red Bulls, UK Elite)
* Please note that official club funds cannot be used towards paying private trainers. The trainer(s) must be affiliated and paid through a professional corporation or business (i.e. RedBulls, SkyBlue, etc.).
