Hello Recreation Soccer Families,
With another Rec season behind us, I sincerely hope your son or daughter improved their dribbling, passing or shooting, made new friends, connected with a coach, or just had fun. We hope they were able to grow and develop while enjoying the experience, and, yes, were also allowed to nosh a pretzel on the way out!
We are already thinking about the spring season and next fall as well. I would like to share with you a few changes that are happening within the organization. After 6 years volunteering as the Vice President of Recreation, Jarrett Stuart is stepping down from the position and LHSA board. During his time with the organization, Jarrett has been tireless in his dedication to advancing soccer in Lawrence Township and creating an environment where players from 3 to 15 years old could improve their skills, experience meaningful competition, and have fun with friends. Many of those players have graduated to our competitive teams and many have been able to compete on their high school teams. We can’t thank Jarrett enough for his vision and constantly seeking a better way to serve over 700 players annually. That vision included the establishment of the winter technical training, the Hamnett Spring soccer league, numerous coaching clinics, and pre-season clinics and activities. Thank you, Jarrett, for the positive impact you have made and over the many years you’ve been with the organization.
With this transition, I am pleased to announce Dan Spiteri as the new Vice President of the Recreation Division. Dan is well qualified for this volunteer role since he is very familiar and has been a part of the Hamnett organization since 2015. In addition to having his own children in the program and coaching, he has also served as a division coordinator for the past two seasons for three age groups. Dan has played soccer nearly his whole life, is a licensed coach, and a licensed referee. Dan will be sending out an email shortly, but I would like to thank Dan for stepping up and taking on this rewarding position. He has the energy and passion to keep improving the organization. I hope that you will support Dan in his efforts and help him to continue the wonderful tradition that we’ve had in the Lawrence Township since 1957.
Coming up, we will have our popular Winter Technical Training program that will start on January 6th, until February 24th. Please check the Lawrence Hamnett website for the registration link which will open this Saturday, December 15. This year, we have added more coaches to provide even more individualized interaction. In late January, the link to the Spring Soccer league will go live and all players are encouraged to participate.
I would like to thank you for your support and participation. Walking around the fields throughout the season, I continue to be impressed by the players and the support families give them.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Keep touching the ball!
Yours in soccer…
President, Lawrence Hamnett Soccer Association
